The recount function allows you to enter details for the current cash amount in the register, in order to check that the register total is still correct and to record or update any discrepancy.

To use the recount feature, you simply need to count the number of each type of note or coin in the register and enter the totals into the boxes provided. As you enter the totals, the two discrepancy amounts at the bottom of the form (shown in red on the screenshot) will update:

- Discrepancy Since Opening shows the total discrepancy since the cash register was opened (usually the start of your trading day)

- Discrepancy Since Last Count shows the relative change in discrepancy since the last recount. If this is the first time a recount has been performed today (or if there was no previous discrepancy), the two figures will be the same.

When you have accounted for all the money in the register, add a note if required and press Count to trigger the usual printable receipt to finish the process.

Once you finish, a Recount entry will be added to the Cash Register journal to show the cash amount you counted:
